The breakfast selection beats anything we have ever had in the UK ! It was awesome, cheeses , meats, breads, chutneys, pates... the list is endless. Our room was immaculate and furnished/decorated to a very high standard and included a good sized fridge, water and welcome tray with teas, coffee and biscuits.

Included parking was a nice perk and the walk into city centre lovely along the promenade. The breakfast was basic continental, but fresh and with a wonderful view of the bay! I definitely plan to return.

So Friendly and helpful - Over and beyond service - helping with the car parking and luggage up to our beautifully decorated room with the most comfortable beds! The breakfast spread was elegantly presented with generous amounts of fruit, cheeses, meats, pate and a variety of pastries and cereals and yoghurt and berries! It's a little bit of a walk to town, but manageable. Could be challenging for older guests. The Studio was a comfortable place, but would benefit from a better mattress that doesn't transmit body movement as much. However, it was sufficiently comfortable. Could use lighting over the mirror in the bathroom. We had two great sunsets when we're there. Excellent breakfast was served.
Tips:We had fish 'n chips at top two top shops, Oban Fish 'n Chips and George Street Fish House and Chip Shop, both were very good. Stores close by 5:30, so if you're on a tour that gets back late in the afternoon, there won't be time for shopping.

Beautifully decorated room and house. Can tell Carol put in a lot of thought and effort into the decor. Clean and comfortable . Great view . You can sit and relax on the rattan chairs provided on the patio and enjoy the view and fresh air. Carol was a very lovely, friendly and thoughtful host . She gave us a room on the ground floor after informing her that we may have a bigger luggage. But we transferred our things to a smaller bag for easy access and she offered us a choice of room upstairs with sea view . Very quick response too, should you need any help or anything to ask. Decor in room No9 was not as expected and was not to our taste, yellows blues and greys was a bit gaudy, room size and facilities were very good. Crashed car reversing out of car park, no visibility, in hindsight I should have reversed in (perhaps a sign for future customers parking there car)

We had another wonderful stay in this lovely/homely guest house. We stayed in an ocean front room (stunning) and would highly recommend you do the same if possible. The views are breathtaking. Paul and Carol are so proud of their business and rightly so. It is spotless, comfortable, peaceful and very well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The staff who clean the rooms (apologies we did not get their names) and serve breakfast are very friendly also and can't do enough to make you feel welcome and well catered for. We are already planning our next stay. Thank you Alltavona, we look forward to seeing you again. Karin & Ken L
Tips:The location of this guest house is perfect as it is just a short walk into the centre of Oban. If you like otters (like we do), Ollie hangs around the coast nearby and will put on a show if you are lucky. There are lots of walks you can do nearby also. Coast restaurant is an absolute must but we recommend you book in advance as it is so popular. Eeusk and its neighbouring Pizza restaurant were very good also. Very friendly, helpful owners and staff. We were stuck in Oban during the recent heavy rain, all roads were closed in and out, we had no accommodation booked as we had been on the Isle of Mull and our intention was to drive home that day, trying to get somewhere was stressful as everyone was stranded and needed an overnight, Carol was fully booked but took our number, luckily there was a cancellation, Carol rang us and phew, we had a room which turned into a 2 night stay. So relieved as lots of people had to sleep in cars. Would definitely recommend Allvatona, and should we be stranded again they will be our first call.

Hi me and my wife stayed here for two nights at the weekend this guest house is beautiful and spotlessly clean and immaculate the owner couldn't be more accommodating by letting us check in earlier because we arrived earlier than anticipated. Views across the to the island's and beyond are amazing absolutely first class and would highly recommend this property.

We enjoyed our stay. We loved the house and its decor and the ornaments that had been collected. It was located a bit further from the town centre than we expected but it meant that it was quiet and had lovely views over the water. The continental breakfast that was served the next morning was very generous and very delicious!! We would certainly recommend it to anybody and hope that sometime we will get back to Oban and can stay there again.

Alltavona House is a lovely place to stay. A short walk to the town centre makes it an ideal base for a stay in Oban. Rooms are beautifully decorated and well maintained. Hostess Megan is a wonderful ambassador for the guest house. Her outgoing and friendly personality puts everyone at ease as soon as they arrive.
Tips:Be sure to take advantage of the boat tours and ferries to Mull, Iona, Staffa. The fresh seafood is not to be missed. Restaurants can be very busy so be prepared to book a table or be patient enough to wait for one.

We were so lucky to stumble across your jewel of a place and Carol was the most gracious and welcoming hostess anyone could imagine. We'd absolutely recommend your place to anyone traveling through Oban. Thank you for the great experience and comfortable stay. Oh, and breakfast was great too!
Tips:I wish we could have seen the Oban fishing industry 50 years ago but it's still providing good quality local fish. I can especially recommend the scallops. Wandering around the docks was fun and interesting.

The owner Carol and her staff were so welcoming. We enjoyed our stay in our lovely quirky bedroom! Delicious continental breakfast with lots to choose from. Being situated on the shore front, the view is nothing short of amazing - particularly at sunset. It was a last minute plan for us, as we could only stay for one night before our onward trip to Mull, so we’re happy to have chosen Alltavona House.

My mum and I loved our top floor room! We loved the decor and design elements with all the flowers and bedding. The antique furniture and fixtures was so quaint and added to the ambiance of the experience staying in the older historic house. Our sleep was comfortable and the included breakfast was nice. It is a pretty decent walk away from the town centre and there is no lift to the upper levels, so keep that in mind if you have issues with mobility and/or carrying luggage up stairs.

Really liked the ease of checking in and out with the key safe. Spoke to Megan twice and on both times she was lovely and very helpful. Room and bathroom were spotless. There were plenty of towels and hot water although the hot water is very hot. Would defo stay again but in a double room this time as my husband is a bit tall for a single bed but as we booked last minute we didn’t think there were any available
Tips:I would highly recommend The Oban Fish and Chip Shop. We sat in and the fish was fab. Went to EE-Usk also, food was fine but there was a lot of faffing about at the door dodging people with plates while waiting to be seen to our table. Superb! Great check in procedure. Beautifully furnished spotless room with wonderful views and lots of little extras. It is in a perfect location and the hosts go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Alltavona is always my number one choice when staying in Oban, not only because it is so comfortable and welcoming but also as I am often catching an early ferry. The key safe check in procedure is very easy and effective with great communication before arrival. This means that late arrival or early morning departure for a ferry is no problem at all. I also love the fact breakfast is not automatically included in the nightly rate - many times in other establishments I have been charged for a breakfast I can't have because of early departure. Look forward to my next visit.

We had a lovely stay. The breakfast, especially the salmon was really tasty.
Tips:The sunset from the The View was worth a drink. The walk along the esplanade and onto Dunollie castle was nice and then onto Ganavan Beach. Care on the road walking, but worth the walk to the beach. WE took the ferry from Port Appin to Lismore and hired bikes. Was a great day, but not as flat as we were told! We took the ferry to Mull in addition. From here we did a wildlife tour from Tobermoray with SeaLife Mull. Fabulous half day in which we saw minke whale/dolphins/seals/purpoises and eagles.

Carol and Paul were wonderful hosts. Very flexible and most accommodating. Alltavona is very specially decorated, with great attention to its victorian structure. Having lived in Bath for 20 years we really appreciated the the great effort it has taken to maintain the grandeur of that era. We would very much like to visit again on some future occasion.
Tips:Fish restaurant on the pier, and Coast restaurant in the town. Visits to the various islands. Very good ferry service available. Great self service laundrette at halfway esso station a short distance outside Oban.

Lovely to be back at Alltavona after an absence of about 12 years. High standards maintained as we expected. We did greatly miss the super breakfast nicely served with personal attention in the dining room.
Tips:We always enjoy eating atEe-Usk (fish) and Piazza (pizza) on the pier. Booking essential. Get a window seat if you can and watch the sun go down over the harbour and the comings and goings of the boats. Far too much to do in and around Oban to mention here but trips to Mull, Iona, Staffa, Coll, Tiree are fantastic. Kererra, close at hand, is a super walk round too.

Pity about having a rather limited breakfast in the room. The great breakfasts in the dining room with a view were the highlights of previous visits. To be honest the cramped space, limited seats and very small table made breakfast in room 7 quite difficult - and left crumbs everywhere! Still we got here and it was still good!

On a personal opinion and being positive, we do not enjoy breakfast in the room due to not being able to sit at a table. We felt there was food wastage due to the fact we were provided with eg. ham which we did not eat but enjoyed the eggs that were offered. We had a fabulous weekend stay at Alltavona for our friends “30th” Anniversary, what a beautiful Guest House. Due to Covid we were greeted by Joyce, explaining that breakfast would be served to our rooms instead of being in the dining room, she was very welcoming and friendly. We met the owner Carol on Saturday when we were sitting outside, lovely chatty lady. Room No 4 is a wow factor with the sea views, beautifully decorated and has huge bay window looking out onto Oban bay. I would not hesitate to return and also recommend this Guest House to other family/friends. Thanks for a great stay!

We managed to get a last minute booking at this lovely Guest House due to a cancellation. We loved the sea view and the quality of the furnishings. The room was small which due to Covid restrictions made having breakfast in the bedroom a challenge for us. The location of the house was just perfect and we enjoyed the short walk along the promenade one way to get to the centre of the town and the other to see a beautiful sunset from the war memorial. The raised seating area at the front of the Guest house provided us with an unrestricted view of the boats and ferries sailing in and out of Oban. Definitely a place to stay if you like a nice quiet environment.
Tips:Lovely eating places around the town. We would definitely advise people to book for evening meals in the town, fortunately we did but saw plenty of people being turned away. The ferries to Mull are very accessible. We went as foot passengers on a very rainy day. The buses to Tobermory were waiting at the ferry terminal to meet ferry passengers which was great. However a word of caution to people looking for some where to sit down and have a coffee and slice of cake there is no where as some places have closed their cafe areas and only offer take out. So be prepared to either go to a pub or restaurant for a meal. There are not many options to go to when it’s raining in the town.

We had an amazing stay. Carol still managed to make us feel welcomed and taken care of, not easy due to social distancing restrictions. Our room was thoughtfully presented with glorious sea views. My husband finds it difficult to sleep - the mattress was super comfortable and the location quiet and peaceful, it's probably the best rest he's had in months.
Tips:There are good bars and eateries within walking distance. The ferry terminal is with twenty minutes walk with plenty of options of day trips.

Excellent location, cheerful smiley staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you have everything you need. Well appointed room which was clean, even extra pillows if one is not enough. Breakfast delivered to your room with a great selection, sausage baps get my vote. All of this was done in the middle of a nasty virus….. thank you.
Tips:Some excellent fish restaurants to choose from, EE Usk was one of the best fish restaurants I have been to, for any visiting non Scottish folk a fish supper from one of the take away restaurants to eat on the harbour wall is a must.

Only stayed for 1 night and the room we were allocated was small but beautifully furnished. Only issue was the size of the bed and the ornate end of it where I banged my leg and toe on two occasions. Suggest this bed frame be moved to another room and a more streamlined bed frame be used. Would def return once all covid restrictions removed to enjoy a full breakfast in the dining room.
Tips:Etive restaurant for a really foody experience.

We had a lovely stay and the sea-view from the dining room and our bedroom was stunning. We would definitely stay again. If we were staying longer than a couple of nights we might see if we could have a slightly bigger room, but the one we had was absolutely fine.
Tips:The seafood shack at the side door of the ferry terminal does fabulous sandwiches - smoked salmon, crab, prawn- and fresh seafood. The sandwiches are about £3.50-3.80 and the value puts M&S to shame. The Oban fish and chip shop in George St is fabulous. The seafood restaurant again beside the ferry terminal is great. The Pokey Hat ice-cream shop near the Columba Hotel is fab - and a trip round the Oban Distillary and a dram of the 14 year old isn't to be missed. Also went to the Isle of Seil because the ferry to Mull was cancelled or we'd have gone to Tobermory.

Everything about our stay at Alltavona was great. We stayed for 7 nights and were in room 7 which was on the top floor with a stunning sea view (we were very fortunate to experience a stunning night-time thunder storm over the bay during our stay). Our bedroom was freshened with a towel change daily. Within our room we had ample drawer storage, along with an iron and board, kettle, selection of teas/coffees, TV and WiFi. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and polite with a great knowledge of the area. There were great views from the dining room and there was a great choice for breakfast - on the days we had cooked breakfasts they were done as we requested.
Tips:Alltavona is located on Corran Esplanade, Oban and perfect for everything. It was approx 1.5 miles from Ganavan Bay where there was a lovely beach and an approx 2 mile walk to Dunbeg. It was a 5-10 minute walk into Oban town where there are lots of activities and things to do from a visit of the local distillery to a boat trip to see some sea wildlife. As well as activities, Oban has lots of different places to eat. Oban is a great central place to stay for day trips on ferries, drives to other local towns and villages or a day in Oban itself.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at this B & B the during the second week of September. Paul and Carol could not have been more personable and welcoming. After an extensive journey the warm welcome and inviting decor couldn't have been better suited to our needs. We had a lovely room with a private bathroom and everything was absolutely spotless! The hotel is perfectly situated right across from the water for a spectacular view and very centrally located. After going to town for dinner we enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching the water while sipping our complimentary scotch surrounded by late blooming flowers. The next morning we enjoyed a thoroughly delicious Scottish breakfast prepared by our hosts to our exact specifications. From the greeting to the decor and food it is evident that Paul and Carol put lots of love and effort in making their guests feel happy and comfortable in their beautiful B & B. My only regret is that we had only booked one night!
